Abbey Flyers Season Review

9/5/2016

Abbey Flyers first team has taken Division 3 by storm this season and they are delighted to have finished in first place. Following their success in the play-offs at the end of last season, Abbey Flyers secured their promotion to Herts League Division 3. The girls have worked hard to reach this goal and their commitment, determination and team spirit is to be commended. They all strive to play the best that they can and set an example to our younger Club members.

Congratulation to them all: Grace Corr, Tracy Shepard, Clare Baker (Captain), Alex Corr, Rebecka Fryer, Lucie Bultitude, Amy Field, Chloe Pettengel, Jen Stenzel and to the support from our second team when they were called upon: Jane Watt, Thea Ansbro-Turner , Alex Felton, Emily Caswell, Bryony Huxley-Richards and Rachel Lindsay.

Baldock Crusaders - Winners of Division 4

3/5/2016

Baldock Crusaders red had an impressive, undefeated season in division 4. After some dynamic play bringing the ball down the court, shooters Julia Spence, Jenna Gillespie and Daisy Wells ended the season with an amazing 972 goals.

With some injuries and an exciting pregnancy Baldock showed perseverance and versatility to continue the winning streak, especially from the mid court; Jane Coles, Caroline and Jess Young.

Not to be left out, with only 476 goals scored against them for the season, defenders Sharon Hanks and Bridget Wells definitely did their part to secure the win.

A big thank you also goes out to Jenni Moss, Danielle Kirby and Kate Thomas for filling in when needed.. It couldn't have been done without you, and of course to Ben Wallis for your coaching and wise words.

A surprisingly great result for, what has been a tricky year, with key players out for lengthy periods.  At the start of the season, our aim was simply to survive the first division so a great achievement to actually win the league.  We could not have done that without the support of our other club members, who stepped up to help us out when we were players short so a big thank you to Hattie Brooks, Leanne Mansfield, Chloe D'Arcy, Lisa Short and Ellesse Ward.

Congratulations to Andrea Kinninmonth for another great achievement, obtaining her 'B Award in Umpiring'...a long awaited award.  Also, congratulations to Emma Maidment on the birth of her gorgeous daughter, Evelyn....just in time to play the last couple of games of the season.  Good luck to Lucy Andrews with her imminent birth...2 new mascots for next season!  It's been a tough but enjoyable season and we'd like to thank all the teams in the League for the competitive and challenging game...none were easy, but all were enjoyable...well most!

A big thank you to our Coach, Paul Kenny, who turns out without fail,  shouting us on from the sideline at every game...   Thank you also goes to the umpires and scorers, particularly our scorer Jill Rathjen....both thankless tasks, but without which, we could not play and a big thank you to the committee, who have organised another great year of netball.
