Injury Timeouts

Q. Please explain the rules on injury time outs.

A. The first timeout called by both teams in any quarter is up to 2 minutes; in this instance the player does not have to leave the court and can be treated on court. Any subsequent time out for the same team in the same quarter the player must leave the court and has 30 seconds to do so; play then continues. The player or substitute must notify the umpire before they can return on court, which will usually be after a goal is scored.

Q. Does the injured player have to be the one who calls the timeout?

A. The injured player needs to communicate to either their on court team or the umpire that they want to call time; this means that any on court player from her team can let the umpires know on her behalf.

Q. If the other team calls a time out can I make substitutions and team changes to my team?

A. Yes, both teams can. However in the case of the player who called the timeout any changes in their team must involve them.

Q. During a time out call can the on court players not involved in the injury leave the court?

A. No, all other players must remain on court. However the designated team manager can provide the players their drinks from the sideline.

Umpire decisions

Q. The umpire made an incorrect decision during our game and the player involved told her so, the umpire then gave her a warning, this seems unfair?

A. Whether the umpire’s decision was right or wrong their decision is final and will not be overturned. No players should challenge the umpire’s decision while the game is in play. During an interval Only the captain may seek clarification of a specific rule.

Scoring

Q. Is it ok for one of our team to be the scorer?

A. Yes, however they cannot play in the game there are scoring, they must remain neutral and score the full game.

Q. At the end of the game what should I do with the scorecards and team sheets?

A. All score cards & team sheet to be sent to Herts League Fixture Secretary. 

Primary Carer

Q. Is it ok for one of the on court players to be our primary carer?

A. Yes
